SECC 2022

SECC 2022 continued with the same format as the previous year. A total of 11 teams made it from Ystad to Haparanda. And 7 of these were also on the return trip down to Skåne.

The Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 were new models for the year. This year, the Tesla Model 3 dominated the competition again. The winner Joacim “Jojje” Eriksson won the first stage in a new record time of 18:22. It was more than a full hour before the next non-Tesla crossed the finish line. But both Leo in his Ioniq 5 and Per in his KIA EV6 performed very well. It was mainly in the northern parts of the country that they had problems with charging. However, between third and eighth place it was all the more even, and the difference was only 11 minutes between all these teams.

The stage back to Ystad was marked by intense rain on quite large parts of the route. This meant that the times were a little worse in general. Per in his EV6, however, managed to cut almost 20 minutes more than the journey up, which led to him being able to squeeze out second place overall. But for the overall winner Joakim, there was no competition this year.

 We also had two "veteran cars" in the form of Robin and Anders in their Tesla Model S P85 from 2014. These could not charge as quickly as the newer cars, but at least Robin showed that they could still keep up with the competition.
