SECC 2023
In 2023, the SECC was only run from Ystad to Haparanda, meaning there was no competition on the return trip. Once again, we were able to attract a record number of teams to the start. A total of 14 cars competed.
The distribution of cars looked like this:
Tesla Model S 90D -2017 (Jens Lindqvist)
Tesla Model S P85 -2014 (Robin Johansson)
Tesla Model S LRP – 2023 (Jesper Engström)
Tesla Model 3 LR -2021 (Joacim Eriksson)
Tesla Model 3 LR -2021 (Fredrik Ahlgren)
Tesla Model 3 LR – 2020 (Niklas Zetterling)
Tesla Model Y Perform. -2023 (Christer Olsson)
Nio ET5 – 2023 (Edvin Jacobsson)
BMW i4 – 2023 (Janne William)
Kia EV6 GT -2023 (Per Bengtsson)
Hyundai Ioniq 5 – 2022 (Henrik Österlindh)
Polestar 2 LRDM -2021 (Joel Bergström)
Polestar 2 LRSM -2021 (Anders Krigsman)
Mercedes EQE -2023 (Marcus Agehall)
Once again we got to see some new car models show themselves. And most impressive among the new ones was Marcus in a Mercedes EQE. Not only did he set a distance record for the competition, but he also managed to place himself just ahead of two Tesla Model 3s. However, there were only seconds between third and fifth, who all came in after 19 hours and 15 minutes.
The Nio, which can change the battery, was a serious contender in advance. But trouble at the first battery change station caused it to lose precious time. It became a battle against the two Polestar 2 cars, and it just managed to get ahead of Anders in his Polestar. Joel Bergström in the second P2 again set a new personal best, and finished just ahead of the Nio.
Near Jönköping, a traffic accident on the E4 caused great concern for our competitors. Some stopped to recharge and think about new tactics, while others chose to drive on the western side of Lake Vättern. But those who had the best idea chose the old road to Gränna, and thus gained a small lead. This is where the competition was decided for the two top combatants. Joakim chose the old national road, while Jesper got stuck in the traffic jam.
In the end, Joakim Eriksson was the winner again, for the second year in a row. And despite a few obstacles along the way, he was able to cross the finish line in a new record time of 18:11. Very impressive.
Impressive as well was Janne W in his BMW i4, who—despite being fully loaded and carrying two adults and two children—still stayed close to the top.
We also got a new record time of 18:11 despite long queues north of Jönköping due to an accident.
The result list was as follows:
- Joacim Eriksson – (Tesla M3 LR -21): 18:11
