The start of the competition is fast approaching. It is now only 6 weeks away.
We currently have 21 teams registered. A number that will probably increase, as several teams have announced their participation, without yet making an official registration.
Tesla has been strongly represented over the years, and is still so this year. But we thought we'd take a closer look at another car model, namely the Audi A6 e-tron.
Currently, we have three registered teams that will drive just such a car. Team Audi, Nordgren Racing and Anders Ekesbo. Team Audi already drove last year, and will now start with this year's model. It should have a slightly longer range than last year's model. This, together with the fact that Team Audi is driving for the second time, makes them a bit of a favorite among the three Audi cars. But last year they chose to rely entirely on the car's built-in navigator, and otherwise did not take any other power-saving measures. If they do the same this year, there is absolutely a chance for the other two to challenge for the title of the fastest Audi of the year.
Nordgren Racing is used to fine-tuning details to optimize its vehicles for competition. Could that be the key to success, even if they enter the slightly more power-hungry Avant version? However, it's not about the fastest acceleration or the best cornering, so it's a few other parameters that you might not usually keep fine-tuning that need to be adjusted in that case. And as for the third Audi, driven by Anders Ekesbo, it certainly wants a say in the game too. What ace can it find up its sleeve?
But what are the chances of an overall victory then?
Yes, last year they were just over seven minutes away from an overall win, so with similar total times this year, it is absolutely possible to challenge there too. Even though they do not charge the fastest in the field, the combination of a consumption of around (or just under) 190 Wh/km, and a charging curve that peaks at around 280 kW with the ability to maintain high power for a long time, is an incredibly effective weapon. The team that can reduce consumption the most, and drive the most optimally, will most likely be in the running for the top positions.
We look forward to following these teams' match-by-match.
And there is still the opportunity to register.
